			<title>Moving</title>
			<link>http://www.voiceof814.com/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=66</link>
<description> Local 814 is MovingSince January 1st of this year the new officers of Local 814 have been working hard to turn this union around. We have been out in the streets signing up new members, collecting dues and enforcing our contracts. But it can&amp;rsquo;t stop there. Restoring our union&amp;rsquo;s power also means fixing the finances. To that end, we have slashed the salaries of officers and staff and cut our legal bills dramatically. Now we have to go further. Our current space at 33-01 38th avenue is a drain on our resources. Attached to this letter is the Con Edison bill from December. During winter months, Local 814 was spending nearly $5,000 per month on utilities. We simply cannot justify this expense to the members. So we are moving. Starting Monday, February 8th, 2010, our new address and contact information will be as follows: Teamsters Local 814 44-61 11th Street, 3rd Floor Long Island City, New York 11101 Please send all dues and correspondence etc. to this new address. We will now be in the same building as Teamsters Local 805, and our long-term plan is to share a buliding with a larger group of Teamster locals. In Chicago they have a Teamster City , why shouldn&amp;#39;t New York. By working with other locals we can cut costs and put Local 814 back on the right track. </description>
